Tour My Work in Progress

Welcome to my home.....it seems it's forever a work in progress!!

I do feel like I want to live either inside a Pottery Barn/Ballard Designs Catalog, or in an Ikea Store!  Does anyone else feel like that?  Of course, having two kids (and a husband) means there is always something laying around.  I tried to straighten up before pictures, but it never stays that way.

This is the little hallway by the front door.  The paintings above were painted by
me, but the original painting was completed by Amy Bellamy.  She is a fabulous painter!
I saw it in a magazine and loved the colors, couldn't afford her original, so I painted
it for myself.  The other two canvases are actual oyster shells from the beach.
The little shelf is from Ikea.  There are two jewelry dishes from Target for keys and sunglasses.
The oar above the front door is an old one I found and I loved the rustic feel, so
I mounted it above the door.
This is my living room.  The entertainment center is finally complete!  Except for decorating it.
That will come with time.  I will update this post when I buy more decorations!  (Can you see the
work horse in the back?  Like I said, work in progress!)  I still have to find fabric I like to
reupholster the maroon ottoman there off to the right.  It went with my country decor,
but since I've changed it, it doesn't match any more.  The problem is, my dog lays
up there and I can't have anything that will show too much dirt.  So, I'm still searching.
AND, Ikea is discontinuing the Hemnes Entertainment Center!!
I'm so glad I got all the pieces I needed before that happened!

This is my living room/dining room combination.  My husband built
the fireplace and I recently painted it white.  The basket is filled with
dried hydrangeas from my MIL's garden and the two topiaries were on clearance at Target.
The lanterns were a $5 find at a Farmer's Market by our house.
This is one of my favorite areas of the house.  Candlesticks are
from Ikea (please don't mind the deer in the background....I'm not allowed
to get rid of the thing).  I love the flameless candles!!  I've shown you the vignette
already and the lamp I did with rope....Below is a close up of the mason jar with
sand and sea glass.  I cannot wait for summer, can you tell?
It is coming together but it does take a really long time!
Still working on the coffee bar....the wine is not staying there
either.  LOL.  I don't drink that much!!
This is in the corner of my dining room.  I painted this piece.
You can see more of my art work here.  I don't do too many
pieces because they take me a really long time.
My husband got me these letters for Christmas.
He was teasing me that he ordered two more letters...."ME"
but they haven't arrived yet.  He is just too hysterical sometimes haha.
I am planning on adding more plates around it, I'm just not quite
sure how yet.  I'll update when I can!

Here is my kitchen.....still VERY much a work in progress.
I am totally in love with wooden floating shelves or
the industrial pipe ones and really want to incorporate them in
here somehow.  What I really want to do is knock this whole wall
down and start all over again.  There is a bedroom behind that wall
that currently is my art studio/office.  I am hoping to use that room
to expand the kitchen.
The cabinets are original to the house and some of them
barely close.  They were white when I moved in and I painted
them blue about five years ago.  Still, they have no
character at all.
I do like the little shelf above the kitchen sink though.

Here is a gallery wall in my hallway leading from the
kitchen to the front door.
 It's almost complete!!

Thanks for touring my home!
