Work in Progress

Hey all! I have a new work in progress....I thought I was going to initially do it in colored pencil, but decided to do it in watercolor (less time consuming). I love watercolor, you can get soft, translucent color, or bold, strong washes depending on the techniques you use. I found a picture on a website i love called "wetcanvas" and in the reference library is a picture of a gardener's hat on the side of chair. I just loved the simplicity of the piece and when I get more of it finished, I'll post a WIP for you. Again, life seems to get in the way and it seems I can only post every few months! I will try to post a little more often, so that I can keep all my fans (all 0 of them, hee, hee) up to date on my life! Hasta La Vista!!

New Artist

Well, I haven't been here in a while. Have not had much free time. I was checking out one of my favorite art websites today (Wetcanvas) where artists can share work and get critiques and learn techniques (ha ha that rhymes!)....anyway, I ran across this one oil artist who has posted in the decorative arts forum, Annie Howell Adams. You must check out her work. I absolutely love the way she is using her oils on panels to create a large fishing mural. Her technique is so cool! It's very painterly and colorful and I like that. She said she considers herself a colorist - which is so true. She is based in San Juan and paints alot from life, based on what I've seen on her website. So, if you get a chance, make sure you check out her site!

Mother's Day

Thanks for visiting! Friends of ours recently had a baby and I posted a picture of the card that I created for her above. It always makes me see little mistakes on the cards when I post them, this one's ribbon ends up crooked in one little spot. That's okay, it's adorable nonetheless. The flower is made from different colors papers folded (which I borrowed from an amazing blog I visit - papers, scissors, and superheroes). Cute, huh? I will be showing more cards as I create them! Art, too!

Blogging is time consuming. There are so many parts and pieces to life these days. I want to create, I want to paint, draw, read, write, surf the 'net, create cards, scrapbook....I could go on and on. I want to spend time with my children, play with my dogs, cook....these are all things I love to do. Unfortunately, what do I spend most of my time doing? Working! It seems like no matter how much I get done, there is always more to do. I am really looking forward to the summer when the pace of life slows down just a little bit, the kids are more relaxed, the time constraints are more relaxed and life just becomes more about family and free time. Ahhh summer! It's on it's way!!

I really want to be able to start some sort of an art league in my own community. I belonged to one not too long ago, but the 45 minute ride to get there and back on a Monday night just got to be too much. Especially in the dark! I don't know the first thing about starting one, and I've been in contact with a few people from the other art league, but follow-up has just been difficult. Hopefully, once I have more time, it will be something I can actually facilitate.
